I just got a new RQ10 replacement head for my Arcitec 1050. I noticed looking inside the head that the steel has a pink/gold looking hue to it. I read somewhere on a blog or Amazon post someone saying that they believed the blades come with burrs on them That must be true because I can hear a lot of metal abraision and the new head and it is at least twice as loud as the old head. I was getting a decent shave with the old but just thought I'd get a new set. In the future I'm not going to replace the head until I really feel the thing is completley shot. I suspect that when Norelco stopped making this razor that they are letting the quality replacement heads slip away. Tha really ticks me. Planned obsolescence. Why don't they just pefect a razor and stick with it for goodness sake. In my book this was the one.

I don't know what's happened. I have had some stress related issues due to a new job I took late last December. This whole year has been rough. I'm not ruling out that stress has had an affect on my face.

I've tried everything short of trying brand new razors. I have an old Panasonic, Norelco, Braun and my newer Braun at home. I've tried all 4 and even bought new blades for all but the Panasonic to no avail. Also picked up new foils for the Brauns. My beard is not getting cut well at all. I'm getting ingrowns for the first time since I became a dedicated electric shaver back in Nov '04. Not necessarily from what usually causes ingrowns. I'm having whiskers not getting picked up and cut, then growing into my face. Mainly on the side of my face I sleep on. So it's not an irritation thing like I used to and most people deal with.

The 3-head Norelco style razors still cut too close and give me the usual type ingrows, which are harder to deal with since the hair is...

The Norelco 1290X has a pressure sensitive switch that only works when the shaver is awake. Any movement of the shaver causes concentric circles to appear around the on/off switch and allows it to work.
When the shaver is constantly moved while off it enters what is called the "travel lock". The concentric circles no longer appear on movement. A little lock appears instead. The shaver is turned on as usual. It seems that the only purpose of the "travel lock" is to replace the concentric circles with a lock symbol therefore maybe saving a little power. There is no real lock. Why is it called a travel lock?

But using blades properly is a big mess with the fact that my moustache area always get irritations. Considering this cenario, I tried to come back to electrics several times, buying new razors constantly to try to solve the issue. In this moment I have 06 shavers (brand new!): 01 Remington (MS 270), a Pulsonic and 04 philishaves (HQ6, HQ7, speed XL and a sensotouch 3D). I keep trying come back to electric shaving but quit constantly because the break-in period is hard (pain, red spots on neck and addams apple and bad shave quality). I know I have to stick to it and be determined but here are my questions:

1) - Can one of you really shave every day?
